The Beeches is a small nursery catering for 35 children on any one day - our baby room cares for 7 babies, toddler room 12 and pre-school 16. We are based in the grounds of St Peter’s School which has a large playing field to which the nursery has access, as well as having a secure playground of our own which we use throughout the day.

The nursery has a strong bond with the parents and we do our utmost to ensure that parents have all the information they need in regard to their children and the setting itself. We encourage parents to be involved as much as possible in their child’s development by providing a lending library in which the children can choose a book, chatter pack or song pack to take home and read/sing with their parents.  There are also events throughout the year, for which parents can come to nursery and interact with the children and practitioners in various ways.

In our playrooms we zone areas to ensure the activities meet the 7 areas of development.  These areas would include a home corner, book/cosy corner, play-dough table, mark making table, creative table, painting easel, ICT area, sand/water tray, builders' tray (messy play) and construction area.  In the garden we also provide children with a planting area, i.e. vegetable patch, ribbon weaving wall, mirror wall, outdoor cosy tent, builders' yard, soil based digging patch, play house and slide, large sand pit and water play. As well as these, the children can select from a large range of resources from the garage, such as bikes and scooters, balls, hoops, group games and construction items.

The nursery allows free flow, where the children can choose to play inside or out during the day; this enables the practitioners to provide a much larger range of resources for the children and to carry out one to one activities.

Feedback from Parents

“We would like to personally thank you and everyone involved in our daughter’s time at your nursery, for the wonderful foundation you have built for her.  She is a happy confident little girl and thoroughly enjoys being with her carers and her friends. I know that her transition to school will be easier by the learnings she’s had at The Beeches.  However, I'm not sure that we are actually ready for that step yet!”.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all your staff for playing such a positive and significant part of development in his early years.  I give the Beeches credit for teaching him so much, not only on an educational level but also about life in general, which has been invaluable to him.  You have helped him to develop into a confident and happy boy who is now very ready to take his next step in life... starting school!”.
