CHILD BENEFIT CHANGES ... HOW WILL IT AFFECT YOU?

Child benefit changes, effective from 7th January 2013, will impact on parents if:

-   you receive child benefit and

-   you, or your partner (regardless of marital status), earn over £50,000 a year

If you earn between £50,000 and £60,000 you will lose a proportion of your child benefit and if you earn £60,000 or more you will lose all of your benefit, which is a loss of £1,752 if you have two children or £2,450 if you have three children.

However if you increase your pension contributions or take childcare vouchers, you  could reduce your "adjusted net income" enabling you to retain more of your Child Benefit allowance and this is in addition to the tax and national insurance savings you would make.
